Kirk Woosley Patton of Fincastle Ancestry Research is involved in numerous genealogy related activities. He has homes in both Kentucky and Colorado and is active in the genealogical communities of both states. Kirk continues to research his family in Kentucky and spends considerable time performing professional genealogical services in both locations.

Kirk served on the Board of Directors of the Federation of Genealogical Societies, for which he was chairperson of the bylaws committee. He also contributes his knowledge of courthouse and statehouse research to the weekly peer support group of his local genealogical society, for which he has served as president. Kirk is active with the Kentucky chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists.

Kirk founded the “William Woosley Descendants Association” and serves as facilitator of its online community. He also facilitates numerous genealogy study groups and writes a blog about research in Kentucky. In addition to his volunteer work, Kirk is actively pursuing certification as a professional genealogist with the Board for Certification of Genealogists.
